This year the women of Common Ground will enjoy a weekend of fun and adventure in Cape Charles, VA. This historic town is nestled on the Chesapeake bay on Virginia's beautiful Eastern Shore.  This charming little beach town provides the perfect backdrop for a time to recharge and connect with other women. 

The retreat begins on the evening of Friday, May 1st and concludes on the afternoon of Sunday, May 3rd.

Overview

Accommodations

We have rented 3 charming houses in the historic district of Cape Charles.  Once you have registered you will then select a room and bed.  All 3 houses are within walking distance to the beach, shops and restaurants. 

Activities

Included in your retreat tuition is the opportunity to participate in a 2 hour activity. Once you have registered for the retreat you will be able to select the activity of your choice.  Space is limited for some of these adventures. Register early to be sure to get the activity of your choice.​ Some of the activity options are...

  • Kayaking 

  • Art Class

  • Chartered boat ride to the barrier islands for shelling 

  • Baking Class

  • Yoga 

During free time and in the mornings there will also be other opportunities to participate in activities at your leisure. Some of these activities are free and some of them are an additional cost should you choose to participate.

  • Bike ride (free)

  • Group run (free)

  • Meditation on the beach (free)

  • Nature walk at Cape Charles Natural Area Preserve (free)

  • Treats at Black Dog Ice Cream (you pay for your order)

  • Spa treatment (you book & pay for your own treatments)

Schedule

We are still in the process of planning all sorts of treats and goodies for you to enjoy during the retreat.  As plans for the retreat evolve we will update the schedule.  Please keep in mind this is tentative and details are subject to change.

Friday

5 pm-5:30 pm Check-in & Welcome Reception

5:30 pm-6:30 pm Dinner

7 pm-9 pm Opening Session & Bonfire 

Saturday

7 am-8 am Optional Morning Worship (group run, nature preserve walk, meditation on the beach...)

8 am-9 am In House Continental Breakfast 

9 am-11:30 pm Small Group Activities

12 pm-1:30 pm High Tea Party (Lunch)

1:30 pm-2:30 pm Afternoon Session

2:30 pm-5:30 pm Free Time

5:30 - 7pm Pizza Dinner at Deadrise Pies

Sunday

7 am-8 am Optional Morning Worship (group run, nature preserve walk, meditation on the beach...)

9 am-11 am Breakfast Table Group

11:15 am-12:30 pm Closing Session
